Why risk your product quality? Pre-shipment inspections are a very important tool for companies to ensure they are delivering the same level of product consistently and that they have promised their customer. Pre-Shipment Inspections can keep substandard product from being shipped and reaching your customer. There are three main elements to check during a Pre-Shipment Inspection.

1. Product Quality

Quality is one of the most important aspects of a product and should be verified before leaving the manufacturer. Strict quality control ensures that a reliable product is received as expected.  A company’s reputation can be damaged if a customer receives a product that is damaged or of lesser quality than they expected. When conducting inspections we follow AQL or Acceptable Quality Limit.  This allows the client to set a quality threshold that they will accept.

2. Packaging

At first thought, packaging of the product might not seem as important as product quality. Proper packaging ensures the safety of the product throughout transit to its final destination. If improperly packaged, the goods may arrive damaged without anyone knowing until the product reaches store shelves or the end customer. Packaging verification can also ensure proper colors to specifications, type of packaging and master carton requirements. These are all points that companies want to avoid by ensuring quality-packaging procedures.

3. Labeling

Finally, it’s important to assure that the products have any required regulatory labels and correct, readable UPC barcodes. Missing regulatory labels can potentially involve recalls or fines while incorrect or non-scannable bar codes leaves customers and store cashiers frustrated and lost sales.

Pre-shipment Inspections may seem like an unnecessary additional step.  This step could mean the difference between a happy customer and a disappointed, lost one. Ensuring product quality, correct packaging, and regulatory labeling will provide a company with the product they had ordered, while minimizing any flaws.
